American universities are offering athletic scholarships
There are more than 4,600 institutions in the higher education system of the United States. More than 50 of them are ranked in the top 100 universities according to the Academic Rankings of World universities. More than 800,000 international students, including about 600 from Croatia, were attending US universities in the last academic year.
Sports Scholarships USA (SSUSA), a Swiss-registered agency. Its representative office in Croatia is located adjacent to the American School in Zagreb. We are seeking student-athletes who would like to study in the United States.
The registration period opens in November and closes in March, but SSUSA student-athletes have already found six athletic scholarships, and by the closing of registration for study in the US, we are planning to send about 30 others from Croatia and the region.
Maja Šaša, who has a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and is the recruiting manager for SSUSA, herself went through the US educational system. “SSUSA has had excellent experience with young athletes from this area and they are frequently among the best students at their universities. Because of their notable athletic and academic results, we have acquired a reputation and the trust of American coaches in all three student-athlete associations, the NCAA, the NAIA, and the NJCAA,” Šaša said.
During the preparation process and the search for the most suitable conditions for our student-athletes, SSUSA closely cooperates with experts from Croatia and the region so that our athletes are presented to US college coaches in the best possible way. This approach makes it possible for young athletes to contact their future coaches in the simplest, quickest, and most transparent way possible and to obtain a free education at a US university.
SSUSA offers assistance in obtaining scholarships in about 20 sports, with most US coaches seeking athletes in track and field, tennis, volleyball, and basketball. “We promote the achievements of our athletes with potential coaches in a variety of sports. We are engaged in the entire process, from obtaining a scholarship to signing the letter of intent itself with a university,” says Šaša.
If a student does not immediately obtain an opportunity at a university, they will remain in the SSUSA database. “University coaches know about our database, so depending on their needs for international athletes in a specific sport, they frequently contact us,” Šaša concluded.
Registration is now underway, and all high school students, high school graduates and university students in Croatia who participate in a sport and want to study in the US can register at info@ssusa.eu.
